The Cannon Road Elementary School replacement project included the demolition of the building’s original 1960’s structure and the construction of a new, two-story, 88,000-SF facility. The modernized school is comprised of 28 classrooms equipped with smart boards, a gymnasium, music and arts rooms, library, computer lab, and cafeteria that serves as a multi-purpose room with stage area.
Designed to meet LEED Gold certification, energy-saving features include a geothermal well HVAC system, green roof, water conserving plumbing fixtures, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved materials, and materials that emit lower volatile organic compounds. Further supporting the effort to achieve gold certification, HESS successfully diverted 90% of the construction’s waste from the landfill through recycling and reuse. The facility achieved LEED Gold in September 2012.
