HESS Awarded Best K-12 Education Project for Forest Park HS

Baltimore, MD, November 5, 2019 – HESS receives Engineering News Record’s (ENR) Mid-Atlantic 2019 Regional Best Project Award of Merit in the K-12 category for Forest Park High School!

The Forest Park High School (FPHS) project, located in the Dorchester community of Baltimore, included the 177,479-SF renovation and addition of the existing four-story school originally constructed in 1981. Forest Park has been designated a “super” Career Technology Education (CTE) center for the northern part of the district because FPHS incorporates seven CTE programs. Signature programs include the IT Networking Academy, Interactive Media Production, Law & Leadership, Food & Beverage Management, Business Management, Finance & Accounting, and Automotive. Each program has specialty spaces within the new building, dedicated to their respective craft.

HESS extends gratitude to the entire team, including SEI Architects, Mahogany, Inc. and Maryland Stadium Authority for a seamless delivery of this award-winning project.

HESS received this year’s ENR award during the annual ceremony, which also showcased award recipients throughout DC, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. An independent jury of construction professionals reviewed 78 projects, representing the finest examples of design and construction. Projects were evaluated against such criteria as overcoming challenges; adopting innovative approaches; executing exceptional design and craftsmanship; achieving sustainability goals; and maintaining safety.
